☆Ayame Sohma -original-, fruits basket☆
Despite this costume being here, 2019 is actually NOT the first time I wore Ayame. I actually first cosplayed Ayame in 2015 or so with this very outfit. Back then, I had borrowed a wig from a friend and didn’t style it. The release of the new Fruits Basket anime lit the Furuba fire in me again and suddenly I found myself wanting to cosplay all the characters that I wanted to in high school, but didn’t have the skills to back then. Aya wound up being the first character I brought back since I had cosplayed him once before. I didn’t fully make this outfit though. The outfit is actually mostly from my own closet! My mom gave me the gold top some years ago and I thought it was exactly something that Aya would wear. The white top underneath is one I wear regularly. The only thing I actually did make in this outfit were the pants, as the pants I used when I first wore this got damaged. The wig in these photos is actually mine now that I trimmed the bangs for. I figured a braid would be easier to deal with at a convention, although, I’m sure I will occasionally wear the hair loose as he does sometimes. The fan was an executive decision on my part. I find that I don’t know what to do with my hands/arms sometimes whenever I don’t have a prop, so I gave Aya this fan as a solution. Being cold-blooded makes him sensitive to the heat, so it’s probably in-character for him to have one on hand anyway lol. The fan was a plain white fan from Clack That Fan that I added flair to with hand drawings and glitter.
