☆Mabel Pines, Gravity Falls

We’re not twins, but my sister and I are pretty much Mabel and Dipper respectively. These costumes were definitely a labor of love and fun and I loved our cute little Gravity Falls group. My sister wanted this sweater specifically because how could you not? It’s fantastic. Mabel’s sweater was so much fun to make haha. I painted that cat myself on pink fabric using sparkly pink and purple fabric paint. I added in a little cursed touch by painting the eyes with glow in the dark paint lmao. I’m still super proud of how close to the reference that cat came out lol. For MEOW WOW, each letter was cut out of pink flannel, covered in this ridiculously reflective metallic pink fabric, then handsewn to the sweater. To top it all off, I strung up a string of Christmas lights and poked them through the cable knit. The battery pack is tucked away in a pocket I sewed onto the inside of the sweater. Her skirt and headband I also sewed. It’s hard to tell in photos, but for the wig, we wanted to keep the ‘straight into puffy cloud’ way that Mabel’s hair is drawn, so I got a long curly wig and straightened it up to a certain point. It wound up looking really cute, tough to maintain because of the two different textures though. We sadly never got to get proper photos of these costumes together, which really sucks, since we loved them. All I’ve got to share are a couple of pretty good convention shots and a selfie my sister took.
