☆Vanellope von Schweetz, Wreck-It Ralph☆

Vanellope~! My sister wanted to cosplay Vanellope after we saw Wreck-It Ralph. We wound up just buying everything. For the skirt, I found something similar enough to look like her peanut butter cup wrapper skirt. I don’t think I was quite as confident in my sewing skills at the time, so we went with purchasing it. The sweater was also purchased, with glittery mesh tubing used for the licorice details. I also used the same mesh tubes to make the licorice that ties her hair. Lol instead of buying premade candy models or molding my own fake candy for Vanellope’s hair, we went instead with the seemingly less time-consuming/easier (or so I thought) method of sealing actual candy with a spray gloss sealant. It turned out pretty well actually, but the gloss took so long to dry and was really sticky while it was still wet. After all the candies were dry, I glued little rings onto them and hand-sewed them through the rings into a wig. My sister's natural hair color is black like Vanellope’s, but she didn’t want to have candy stuck in her hair, so we went with a wig. I wasn’t used to sewing with spandex yet (which probably would have been the way quicker and easier option now that I think about it lol), so I made a duct tape cast of my sister’s leg, put some mint socks on it, and painted the candy stripes on with fabric paint.

Completed: October 2013 technically since I made a couple adjustments. First worn June 2013.
